SNAP BOUNDARIES
This project explores the relationships among the tourists, their cameras, and their subjects (mainly people and buildings) on the downtown national mall in Washington, DC. Even though the mall is free of physical obstacles and boundaries, tourists create invisible boundaries between themselves and their subject matter. These “snap boundaries” vary in height, depth and porosity depending upon variables such as distance from subject matter, size of subject matter, and camera orientation. This project seeks to make these invisible barriers, visible.
