ENVIRONMENTAL MAPPINGS
Icelandic Mappings
This map of Iceland explores the relationships of the country’s topography, temperature and geological material. The stick heights represent the topography. The stick density represents the temperature so where the sticks are closer together it is warmer (hot springs and volcanoes) and where the sticks are further apart it’s cooler (glaciers and cold water). The stick color, ranging from orange (ground) to blue (water), represents the geological material of a particular zone.

Champlain Topographies
This project explores the representation of the body of water - Lake Champlain. Instead of carving out the land to create a container for the water, this model shows the topography of the water itself, inverted. Using the nautical map as an organizing device, wood dowels were extruded at each point to the depth of the water. The sizes of the dowels varied depending upon how quickly the water depth changed from one point to another.
